Ukraine will refuse to participate in the 2024 Olympics in Paris if Russians are admitted

Acting Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvey Bedny called the participation of Ukrainian athletes in the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 impossible if Russians are still allowed to compete. On December 8, the IOC announced the admission of Russians to the Games in Paris in a neutral status.
“If we analyze and understand that we need to take part in such competitions and use the Olympic Games to promote our position in the world, then we will work in this direction,” the minister said on the Rada TV channel.
According to the minister, if as a result the Ukrainian authorities see an “unconstructive position” of the IOC and further support for the participation of Russians, then the participation of Ukrainians in the Games is “impossible.”
On December 8, the IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Games in a neutral status and subject to a number of criteria. To do this, athletes will have to sign agreements on new terms of participation. Now only 8 Russians and 3 citizens of Belarus have qualified for the Olympics. However, the head of the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics), Sebastian Coe saidthat the suspension of Russians from the games remains in force, despite the IOC decision.
