Ukraine will not use Patriot air defense systems against “Geran”

The armed formations of Ukraine will not use the Patriot air defense systems received from the United States against Geran drones, except for “exceptional cases”, the command of the Ukrainian Air Force reports.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden, following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, confirmed that Ukraine would receive Patriot systems from the United States. One Patriot air defense system costs $450-550 million, and one missile for it costs about $4 million. At the same time, Washington refused to grant Kyiv’s other requests for weapons, including battle tanks, fighter jets and long-range missiles.
Ukrainian authorities say Russian Geran kamikaze drones are shipped from Iran. In September, information appeared in the Ukrainian media and social networks that Iranian drones and loitering ammunition began to meet in the zone of a special military operation in Ukraine. The American publication Politico called Iranian drones a “huge problem” for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
