Ukraine will need $32 billion in donor funding in 2024 – Kommersant

Ukraine needs a significant amount of funding in 2024, including $32 billion from donors, said International Monetary Fund (IMF) spokeswoman Julie Kozak. According to her, inflation in the country fell from almost 27% in 2022 to 6% in 2023. She believes it is important that Ukraine’s donors ensure that their financial commitments are met to maintain its macroeconomic stability.

“As for questions about financing, Ukraine’s financing needs remain significant for 2024. According to our estimates, the country will need financing in the amount of about $42 billion, including official donor support in the amount of about $32 billion,” said an IMF representative at a briefing (quoted by TASS).

In 2023, the IMF approved a four-year lending mechanism for Ukraine with financing of $15.6 billion. The first tranche of $2.7 billion was received by Kyiv in April, the second tranche of $890 in June, and the $900 million tranche in December. Head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance Sergei Marchenko saidthat without the help of allies the country faces a hole in the budget of $29 billion.
