Over the year, the difference between the incomes of the richest and poorest 10% of Russian families decreased from 10.3 to 9 times. This follows from the “Selective Observation of Population Income and Participation in Social Programs” of Rosstat, summed up at the end of December 2023. The results of the study are RBC.
In 2022, the 10% richest Russians earned an average of 101.2 thousand rubles. monthly, while 10% of poor Russians – 11.1 thousand rubles. The difference in income of these groups was 9.1 times, but in 2021 the ratio was higher – 10.3 times.
The majority of the income of the wealthiest Russians (91%) comes from income from work: wages and income from self-employment, including business. The poorest Russians receive only 56% of their income from work, and 40% of their income comes from social payments: 22% of benefits and compensation, and 18% of pensions. For the richest, social benefits account for only 6.6% of income.
Rosstat identified families with children as a separate group: in 2022, their average income was 84.1 thousand rubles. per month, or 25.1 thousand rubles. per family member.
According to Rosstat for the second quarter of 2022, the 10% of the wealthiest Russians accounted for 30% of all monetary income. At the same time, the poorest 10% of Russians received only 2% of total income.
According to FinExpertiza calculations based on Rosstat data, at the end of 2022, the number of Russians with above-average income increased by 9.4 million, to 53.1 million people. Thus, the share of the population with a monthly income of 45 thousand rubles. increased to 36.2%.
