Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Taras Kachka said that if the ban on the export of agricultural products is extended after September 15, his country will file a lawsuit with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against Poland and the European Union.
According to Politico, the deputy minister noted at the same time that the Ukrainian side does not intend to immediately take retaliatory measures, “given the spirit of friendship and solidarity.” But he added that the threat to the interests of Kyiv “forces to transfer this case to the WTO.”
Restrictions on grain exports are believed in Ukraine to violate a free trade agreement with the European Union signed in 2014.
Earlier, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia announced their intention to apply to the European Commission with a demand until the end of 2023 to extend the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain.
