The Ministry of Education of Ukraine decided to stop the production of textbooks on the Moldovan language after outrage from the Romanian authorities.
The Ukrainian ministry noted that the term “Romanian language” is now officially used instead of “Moldavian language.” In connection with this change, Kiev emphasized that all future official decisions and documents will be developed taking into account this terminological adjustment.
“Today, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has suspended the process of additional printing of educational materials on this topic. In addition, the department is developing a mechanism for replacing previously printed textbooks that were intended for studying the Moldovan language with similar publications in Romanian,” the ministry noted.
