Ukraine has stepped up attempts to recruit employees of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, said Renat Karchaa, adviser to the general director of the Rosenergoatom concern.

According to him, such attempts are made during phone calls. Karchaa also noted that employees who have signed new contracts with the Russian side do not succumb to such pressure. “Kyiv has become insolent to such an extent that they are trying to recruit directly over the phone,” Karchaa said.

According to him, employees are offered to make audio and video recordings, and in return they are promised to keep their place at the ZNPP.

“People are holding on despite all these threats and recruiting,” Karchaa said.

He also said that the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant can be “put in order” in 2-3 months. According to him, almost all the major damage at the ZNPP, which was caused by shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine, has already been eliminated.

ZNPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, located on the territory of the Zaporozhye region, which became part of Russia on September 30. The nuclear power plant is regularly shelled by Ukrainian military formations. On September 11, the authorities of the Zaporozhye region announced the shutdown of the last power unit of the ZNPP. On November 3, it was reported that the Zaporozhye NPP was completely disconnected from the Ukrainian energy system.

On January 19, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi wrote on social networks that during his visit to Kyiv he discussed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky the creation of a security zone around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. He noted that he also confirmed the intention of the organization to create support missions at all nuclear power plants in Ukraine.
