Ukraine refused to recognize Tikhanovskaya with her “transitional cabinet”

Ukraine does not recognize the so-called “joint transitional cabinet” of Belarus headed by ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, said Alexander Merezhko, chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to him, the reason lies in doubts about Tikhanovskaya’s “not clear enough” political position towards Russia and its President Vladimir Putin.
“She seems to be afraid to call a spade a spade,” Merezhko said, accusing Tikhanovskaya of not wanting to call the Russian Federation “an enemy of the Belarusian people.”
In addition, according to Merezhko, there are “several dubious people” in Tikhanovskaya’s entourage, and she made statements related to Ukraine that caused misunderstanding among the Ukrainian authorities.
Svetlana Tikhanovskaya is a Belarusian opposition figure, a former presidential candidate. In August, Tikhanovskaya, while in Lithuania, announced the creation of a “joint transitional cabinet,” calling this structure a collective executive body that would “defend the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus” and represent the “national interests” of the republic.
Earlier it was reported that she arrived at the UN headquarters, where a meeting of the General Assembly of the international organization was held. In this regard, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei criticized the work of the UN, accusing the organization of losing impartiality.
