Ukraine refused to guarantee the safety of the IAEA mission at the ZNPP

Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko said The Guardianthat Kyiv cannot guarantee the protection of a group of IAEA inspectors on the territory of the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
He called what was happening around the station a “mess” and told General Director Rafael Grossi that the safety of the mission was his personal responsibility. The head of the IAEA replied that Ukraine had fulfilled its international obligations and took all subsequent risks upon itself.
Galushchenko admitted that Grossi had some kind of “security agreement” with Russia, and admitted that the organization’s mission would end in a few days. The head of the IAEA is due to return to Novooleksandrivka, which is under the control of Ukraine, today.
