Ukraine is ready to legalize pornography

Petition gains enough signatures for Zelensky to consider

In early July, the Lviv philosopher Taras Siromsky registered a petition on the legalization of erotica and pornography in the country in the Official Internet Representation of the President of Ukraine. On August 10, when 56 days remained until the end of the collection of signatures, the number of those who supported the document exceeded 25,000 people. President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the current legislation, is obliged to respond to the “voice of the people.”

As of August 11, the import into the country, the production, sale and distribution of pornographic materials is considered a jurisdictional matter. According to Article 301 of the Criminal Code, a fine ranging from 17,000 hryvnias (27,880 rubles) to 68,000 hryvnias is due for committing the above acts. (111,520 rubles), arrest for up to six months or restriction of liberty for up to 3 years.

And so the philosopher from Lvov set out to defend … “freedom of speech” in his native Fatherland. Say, in the majority of developed countries, pornographic activity has not been pursued for a long time. It is in these countries that Ukrainians and Ukrainian women who dream of finding themselves in the porno-movie business go to shoot with pleasure. Some, taking advantage of all sorts of benefits that are now provided to refugees, manage to earn monthly sums comparable to the fees of stars. At the same time, Taras Siromsky continues, “enthusiasts and enthusiasts are raising the economy of other countries,” and not the Ukrainian one.

And Siromsky, judging by the text of the now official document No. 22/146438-ep, simply breaks his heart when he thinks about Ukrainian webcam models donating money to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to Siromsky, there are “erotic communities of Ukrainian women on the Internet who support Ukrainian soldiers at the front.” If you follow the strict norms of the current legislation, all these “girls, OnlyFans and webcam models who donate money to the APU are automatically subject to criminal liability.”

That is why, the Lviv resident emphasizes, it is so paramount to quickly remove the prospect of a criminal offence, without exception, from all porn models that donate funds to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Opinions of Ukrainians regarding the petition were divided.

Lawyer Oksana Sokolovskaya, who at one time defended the interests of the Russians Alexander Aleksandrov and Yevgeny Yerofeyev, captured in the Lugansk region in May 2015, does not consider intercession for Ukrainian women naked in front of webcams “in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Territorial Defense” “a very important, strategic military issue” .

Former graduate of the Chernivtsi University. Fedkovich, Yuri Minkin, on the contrary, is inclined to assess the problem raised as very relevant. According to his observations, the Ukrainian Cyber ​​Police “stupidly cuts indicators by conducting test purchases of porn products.” First, the guys who are sitting on budget salaries (very high by Ukrainian standards), buy “strawberries” for budget money – and then the KORD fighters called on their tip “heroically” throw naked girls on the floor.

Kharkiv radio electronics engineer Denis Hetman is also convinced that the police have turned the “fight against pornography” into sheer show. Crime in Ukraine “only grows, because the cops themselves often go to porn sites during working hours.”
