Ukraine is investigating a missile attack on the formation of the elite 128th mountain assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Zaporozhye front. This was stated by the head of the SBU Cyber Security Department Ilya Vityuk.
He said that a missile strike on the best artillerymen in 2023 killed not 19 military personnel, as officially stated, but more than 30. The main version of how the strike could have been carried out was through phone hacking.
Vityuk noted that one of the threats is the sending of phishing messages to hack the messengers of specific military personnel. They are sent by the hacker group “Armageddon”. And such messages come in thousands.
Hacking a device gives access to instant messengers and computers via email.
“During the investigation of one of the attacks, during which more than 30 of our military personnel were killed, we found that one of the devices on which the Signal messenger was running received a message about the specific date and location of the military formation, where the missile subsequently arrived,” – Vityuk said.
