Ukraine is attacking Russian territory due to the inability to win on the battlefield – Kommersant

Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Vadim Skibitsky in a commentary to a British newspaper The Guardian stated that the Ukrainian military is attacking Russian territories, since victory on the battlefield is now impossible. He noted that Ukraine is not afraid of an escalation of the conflict, which, he recalled, has been going on for more than two years.
Kirill Budanov’s deputy, Major General Vadim Skibitsky, said that, in his opinion, European politicians were mistaken in fearing an escalation of the conflict. “What does escalation mean to us? We had two years of war. This is an everyday procedure,” he said. “Russia is bombing our territory. It affects power plants and civilian infrastructure,” the military man added.
Vadim Skibitsky also said that Ukraine’s victory on the battlefield is now impossible, given Russia’s military superiority and the shortage of artillery shells and fighter jets. He noted that Ukraine has “no other choice” but to start fighting deep behind enemy lines, including striking military infrastructure, command and control centers, and enterprises that produce “weapons and ammunition.”
Ukraine uses a standard NATO procedure known as the “center of gravity” or “gear,” Vadim Skibitsky added, a model in which greater results can be achieved by carefully selecting and eliminating a few particularly important targets.
On April 2, drones attacked enterprises in Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk in Tatarstan. The special economic zone in Yelabuga, where, according to open data, drones are produced, also came under attack. 14 people were injured during the attacks.
