The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) has filed a complaint with UEFA in connection with the summons of Russian referee Sergei Karasev to a referee training camp to be held in Switzerland. In an open letter addressed to the UEFA Secretary General Theodore Theodoridis, the UAF leadership demanded an explanation of this decision.

The training camp of referees, organized by UEFA, is scheduled for the period from 3 to 6 September. Earlier, Russian referees, along with the teams, were excluded from international matches due to the events in Ukraine.

In its appeal, the UAF expressed concern about the information disseminated in the media about the invitation of Russian referee Sergei Karasev to the annual gathering of football referees.

In Kyiv, they believe that this decision is contrary to the general policy of UEFA in relation to citizens of the Russian Federation, calling it the result of a misunderstanding.
