Ukraine and Romania have resolved a twenty-year dispute over the construction of a deep-water canal connecting the Danube River and the Black Sea. This was announced by the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Ruslan Strelets.
The dispute was resolved during the ninth meeting of the parties to the Espoo Convention.
“The dispute with Romania over the fulfillment of its demands during the construction of the Danube-Black Sea canal has been resolved,” the minister said on social networks.
He emphasized that Ukraine has made significant efforts to bring the project into compliance with the norms of the convention. He also expressed gratitude to his Romanian colleague Mircea Feket.
