UK to put ICC judges on wanted list for issuing arrest warrants for Putin and Lvova-Belova

The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia is preparing to put on the wanted list the judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for issuing an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova, Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin said at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
“The prosecutor of the court, the chairmen and three judges who actively influenced the adoption of this decision [выдачи ордера]we will soon put on the wanted list, ”he said (quote according to TASS).
March 20 Russian Investigative Committee aroused criminal case against ICC Prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan and Judges Tomoko Akane, Rosario Salvatore Aytala and Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez. State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said that these judges should be held accountable.
On March 17, the Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Putin and Lvova-Belova. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the decisions of the International Criminal Court have no legal force and are void.
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stated that this decision would have “monstrous” consequences for international law, and added that “practical value [в этом нет] no”.
On March 25, Volodin called for a legislative ban on the work of the ICC in Russia and the introduction of responsibility for its support. Andrei Klishas, head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, said in response that the legislative reaction of the Russian authorities to the activities of the ICC would be unnecessary, since it is a “fictitious institution” and its decisions are void.
