UK to provide Ukraine with $245 million to buy nuclear fuel

The UK will provide £192m ($245m) to Ukraine to buy nuclear fuel from manufacturers, including British companies, British Energy Secretary Grant Shapps said during a visit to Kiev. transmits Reuters.
“The guarantee we will provide will help Ukraine ensure that their nuclear fuel does not come from Russia in the future,” Shapps explained.
One of these sources will be the European nuclear fuel consortium Urenco (Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands).

At the same time, Alexander Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, told the publication that the presented “figures have no connection with reality.” In his opinion, the plans of the Ukrainian authorities “significantly exceed the already ambitious energy strategy” of the country.
