Effective January 1, 2024, the UFC will end its cooperation with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), after it did not allow MMA fighter Conor McGregor to compete until six months had passed since he entered the testing pool. This is reported in press release USADA.
“We have been clear and firm with the UFC that no exception should be made for McGregor until he has two negative tests and has been in the pool for at least six months. Despite a positive and productive meeting regarding a contract extension in May 2023, the UFC backed down and notified USADA on Monday that it would be moving in a different direction,” the organization said.
After his fight with American Dustin Poirier in 2021, Conor McGregor withdrew from the USADA testing pool. On October 8 this year, it became known that he had submitted documents to USADA to return. The UFC said there are no plans for any fights at this time.
At the same time, in August, Conor McGregor said that he plans to fight with American Michael Chandler at the UFC 296 tournament in Las Vegas on December 16. However, he later said that he was prohibited from participating in fights. He did not specify who exactly.
34-year-old McGregor has 28 MMA fights, including 22 wins and 6 losses. During the fight with Dustin Parrier, he broke his leg and has not fought a single fight since then.
