The current champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in lightweight weight, Russian Islam Makhachev, will fight against American Dustin Poirier on June 1. UFC head Dana White announced this on press conferences following the results of the UFC 300 tournament that ended today, April 14.

The fight between 32-year-old Islam Makhachev and 35-year-old Dustin Poirier will take place as part of the UFC 302 fight night in New Jersey, he will headline the tournament. The co-main event will be a middleweight bout between American Sean Strickland and Brazilian Paulo Costa.

Islam Makhachev became the UFC lightweight champion in October 2022, defeating Charles Oliveira via second-round submission.
