The leadership of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) allowed all athletes, including Russian ones, to enter the octagon with national flags. UFC head Dana White told reporters about this during a press conference yesterday, October 7 MMA Junkie.
“The flags are back. I was on vacation during Mexican Independence Day and the lack of a flag was driving me crazy. So I thought, screw it. We are returning the flags,” he said. According to Dana White, he initially did not think banning flags would be a problem and was not categorically anti-flag.
“Everyone is too soft, everyone is too sensitive to everything. If any flags hurt your feelings, that’s too damn bad,” he added.
In March 2022, the UFC banned fighters from entering the octagon with national flags amid the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
