Ufa scientists have invented a flying fire engine to extinguish high-rise buildings

A new way to put out fires in high-rise buildings was proposed by Bashkir scientists. Recently, specialists from the Ufa University of Science and Technology received a patent for a fire extinguishing agent based on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The invention patented by the Ufa residents ensures that the fire extinguishing agent is raised to the required height, its energy supply and water supply throughout the entire operation time.

The method of extinguishing fires with the help of drones was known before. The prototype of the development of Bashkir specialists is a small squadron of UAVs connected by fire hoses of the required length to fire water pipelines. The problem is that they cannot stay in the air for an arbitrarily long time, sooner or later the battery will run out.

Another prototype is not related to fire fighting equipment, it is a drone that is connected to a constant source of electricity via a cable. It is not suitable for extinguishing fires and flying over long distances, since its movements are limited by the length of the electric wire – with the help of such a “flyer”, by and large, you can only lift loads.

After evaluating both developments, scientists came to an ingenious solution in their simplicity – to combine them. The main elements of their invention are a drone and a hose-electric cable. Experts have proposed two options for its manufacture.

In the first case, insulated current-carrying wires of different polarity are placed inside the fire hose, they are separated from each other by a flexible jumper and spaced apart on opposite walls of the hose.

In the second version, the hose is structurally integrated into a common flexible sheath with an electric cable consisting of two wires placed outside, also on opposite walls of the fire hose. Such a design, according to the authors of the development, will make it reliable.
