In this amount, he estimated the moral damage caused to him by the state
A claim for moral damages in the amount of 450 million rubles was filed by Ufa resident Fathulla Iskhakov, who was illegally convicted of murder 64 years ago. The Ministry of Finance of Russia will act as the defendant.
As MK wrote earlier, in 1959, Fathulla, then still a resident of the Bashkir village of Bolshiye Karkaly, was accused of attempted murder and sentenced to 15 years, of which he spent 13 years in prison. Even while serving his sentence, one of the witnesses admitted that slandered Iskhakov, but they did not review the case. Almost immediately after his release, Fathullah began his struggle for a clean name, which stretched for decades. Despite the fact that over the years more and more evidence of his innocence appeared, no one was going to cancel the sentence passed in the middle of the last century. Even after the real criminal turned himself in in 2013. And only in May of this year, by the decision of the Supreme Court, Fatkhulla Iskhakov was found not guilty.
But decades of moral suffering have not gone away, so the fighter for justice decided to demand compensation. For the ruined fate of a person, those who were involved in the falsification of the case were to be punished, first of all, but they had already died. Therefore, on July 13, Fatkhullah filed a claim for moral damages against the state, which had been inactive all these years.
