Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) presented The official ball of the 2024 European Championship, which will take place from June 14 to July 14 in Germany. The ball, made by Adidas, was shown at a special event in front of the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
The name of the ball – Fussballliebe – translated from German means “love of football”. According to information on the UEFA website, the ball was made using the Connected Ball technique, which involves the presence of a camera inside the ball with an inertial measuring unit, which provides data on the movement of the ball to the video assistant referee (VAR) during the match.
The design of the ball is made in bright red, blue, green and orange colors, which are highlighted by the black “wings”. The UEFA release also notes that the ball was created using environmentally friendly, bio-based materials. “Each layer of the ball has been tailored to include materials such as corn fibre, sugar cane, wood pulp and rubber,” UEFA added.
The 2024 European Championships will take place in ten host cities in Germany: Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart. The Russian national team does not participate in the qualifying tournament due to UEFA sanctions. In September, UEFA stated that Russian teams would be suspended from participation until hostilities in Ukraine ended.
