UEFA plans to partially finance the tournament in Volgograd

In April, the hero city will host the Union of European Football Associations development tournament. The sports association wants to invest its funds in its holding.

The UEFA Development Tournament will be held in Volgograd from April 23 to 29. General Secretary of the Russian Football Union Maxim Mitrofanov noted that the European Football Association should cover part of the costs of holding the championship.

The General Secretary of the RFU added that the Volgograd region is a football region where there are all conditions for holding an international sports forum. In addition, the local climate is ideal for the game.

“We are grateful to the governor, leadership and administration of the Volgograd region for the systematic support of our endeavors,” said Alexey Mitrofanov TASS.

Let us remind you that the UEFA development tournament was first held in Volgograd in 2023. This year they also decided to hold it in the hero city. Teams of players under the age of 16 from Russia, Ghana, Serbia and Kazakhstan will take part in the competition.

Earlier, the General Secretary of the RFU said that the tournament in Volgograd should help Russia return to European and world football.
