The organizing committee of the 2021/22 Champions League final, which was to be held in St. Petersburg, received compensation from UEFA for postponing the match. This was stated by the general director of the organizing committee Alexei Sorokin.
According to him, the calculations took some time. However, today the Union of European Football Associations has already fulfilled all obligations.
“All settlements with contractors that had expenses related to the preparation have been completed. All expenses incurred have been paid, all accounts have been closed. All of our obligations to contractors, which were in the contracts, were fulfilled by UEFA”– quotes the words of Sorokin TASS.
The final match of the championship was supposed to take “Gazprom Arena” in St. Petersburg, but UEFA decided to take away the right to host the match from the city. The Union made such a decision on February 25 after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. The decisive match of the tournament was eventually held at the Stade de France near Paris.
Earlier, MK in St. Petersburg reported that the St. Petersburg International Forum canceled in 2022.
