UEC announced the start of serial production of PD-14 engines for MS-21 aircraft

Serial production of PD-14 engines for MS-21 liners began in Perm, reported United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec).

“This is the most advanced and high-tech development in the field of mechanical engineering in Russia today. PD-14 as part of the MS-21-310 aircraft will become the main one for civil aviation for several decades, ”they said.

According to the plans, the UEC will produce 160 PD-14 engines per year by 2030.

At the end of December 2022 Rosaviatsia approved installation by Irkut Corporation (part of UAC “Rostec”) on MS-21 of the domestic PD-14 engine and wings made of composite materials of domestic production. The ministry emphasized that in 2022 more than 160 successful flight tests of the MS-21 with the PD-14 power plant were carried out, the engine showed results that are not inferior to foreign counterparts.

Then the head UAC Yuri Slyusar informedthat the delivery of the first six serial Russian MC-21 aircraft is scheduled for the end of 2024. They will be received by the Rossiya airline. On December 30, Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov announced that mass production of the MS-21 with Russian engines will begin in 2025

On October 17, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the government would allocate 15 billion rubles. for equipment for aircraft factories, including those producing the domestic MS-21 passenger aircraft. Then Mishustin noted that the second prototype of the MS-21 aircraft with Russian PD-14 engines made a long flight – more than five hours.

In September 2022 for the MS-21 aircraft project singled out additional 15 billion rubles. Before that, in January 2019, the government allocated 10.5 billion rubles. for the creation, production and maintenance of these aircraft.
