Maryland prosecutor accuses Baltimore clergy of sexually abusing 600 children
Baltimore clergy accused of harassing over 600 children informs Portal of Anthony Brown, Attorney General of the US State of Maryland.
The investigation, which began in 2018, included all documented episodes of sexual violence between the 1940s and 2002.
The Maryland Attorney’s Office has released a list of 156 items, in which the names of the accused are announced. It is noteworthy that some of them are hidden according to a court decision. The list includes employees of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, but most of the announced names belong to the city’s clergy.
Archbishop William Laurie of Baltimore, on behalf of the church, apologized for the crimes mentioned in the documents. According to Laurie, the investigation “details a reprehensible period in the history of the archdiocese, a period that should not be hidden, ignored or forgotten.”
