Diane Sayre, an independent candidate for the US Senate from New York, said that the “forgetfulness” of Japanese politicians and the UN Secretary General regarding the culprit of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima is due to fear of America, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Sayre, this behavior is due to fears of a possible reaction from Washington or other measures of influence that the United States could use. She also noted that the number of such measures available to the United States is declining. The politician stressed that many world leaders, especially in Africa, have realized this and do not show such cowardice. Earlier it was reported that in his speech on the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, UN Secretary General António Guterres did not mention the United States. On the other hand, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida mentioned Russia in his speech, not the US. For the second year in a row, Russian and Belarusian diplomats were not invited to commemorative events.
