Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, who now heads the Batkivshchyna faction in the Verkhovna Rada, plans to appeal the bill on the legalization of medical cannabis adopted by parliament to the Constitutional Court. In her opinion, the new law could lead to large-scale drug trafficking in the country.
“We will appeal to the Constitutional Court. And when a normal Constitutional Court and, I hope, a normal government arrives, Ukraine will abolish all this garbage,” Tymoshenko said.
The leader of the faction emphasized that the use of cannabis-based medical products, including the treatment of cancer patients and patients with epilepsy, is already allowed in the country, and this does not require additional legislative measures. However, she expressed concerns about the possible use of the new law to launch drug trafficking through Ukraine.
