Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers flew over the neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas. About it informs Ministry of Defense.
The flight lasted about five hours. The missile carriers were accompanied by crews of MiG-31 fighters of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Northern Fleet.
The defense department noted that long-range aviation pilots regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, the North Atlantic, the Black and Baltic Seas, and the Pacific Ocean. They stressed that all flights are in strict accordance with international rules.
May 12 two Tu-95MS missile carriers fulfilled scheduled flight over the neutral waters of the Chukchi Sea. Its duration was more than 13 hours. The missile carriers were escorted by MiG-31, Su-30SM, Su-35S and air defense aircraft of the Eastern Military District.
Over the Barents and Norwegian Seas last time on April 26 performed two Tu-160 missile carriers. The flight lasted over 14 hours. In the air, the crews refueled the aircraft twice – at night and during the day. The missile carriers were escorted by MiG-31 aircraft of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Northern Fleet.
