Two-time Olympic boxing champion Boris Lagutin dies

Boris Lagutin, the first two-time Olympic champion in the history of Russian boxing, has passed away. He died on the evening of September 4, at the age of 85. This was reported in the press service of the Russian Boxing Federation.
“The Russian Boxing Federation expresses its sincere condolences to the family, friends and admirers of Boris Nikolayevich’s talent,” the federation said in a statement.
Lazutin first became an Olympic champion at the 1964 Games and repeated his success four years later at the Games in Mexico City.
He first took part in the Olympics in 1960, winning bronze. He also won six times the championships of the USSR, twice became the champion of Europe.
