Two steps to Kupyansk: the Russian army has seriously advanced

The Russian army advanced again in the Kupyansk direction on Monday, August 21. With the support of operational-tactical aviation and artillery fire, our troops improved their position along the front line. During the day, heavy fighting was reported around the village of Sinkovka, which is only six kilometers from Kupyansk.

On the eve of the enemy, it seems, began undermining the bridges on the outskirts of the city. As military journalists noted, this was a “very serious sign” of the success of our army, which is more eloquent than any report.

Military expert Yuri Knutov, in an interview with MK, spoke about the prospects for our offensive and the possibility of forming a “cauldron” on this sector of the front.

On Monday afternoon, information once again began to come from the front about the capture of Sinkovka, a village located not far from Kupyansk (Kharkov region). However, it seems that the information was premature. The press service of the Ministry of Defense announced only an improvement in the position of our troops along the front line.

A number of Telegram channels also announced the beginning of the assault on Petropavlovka, a village covering Kupyansk from the northeast. There, the enemy formed an impromptu fortified area.

“Enemy units are leaving their positions. Preliminary report on the withdrawal of the main forces from the area: Petropavlovka, Kasharovka, Podil, Kurilovka. It is obvious to the enemy that it is pointless to keep these settlements, ”wrote the SVO Reports and Analytics channel.

A little later, the channel reported on a “powerful strike by our troops” on the southern flank in the area of ​​Kislovka and Kotlyarovka:

“There is a tank battle going on. The most powerful shelling of enemy positions continues along almost the entire line of contact in this direction.

At the same time, some military experts admitted that with a successful offensive by our troops, the enemy may soon be in the “cauldron”.

“Offensive actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation by the forces of a tank breakthrough from the settlements of Kislovka-Kotlyarovka in the direction of Kupyansk. Looks like a cauldron is brewing. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are now shod in pants and stretched along the front, ”the Kupyansk Nash channel noted.

Another sign that the Russian troops are slowly but surely squeezing out the enemy was the information from the head of the military-civilian administration of the Kharkiv region Vitaly Ganchev, who confirmed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were on the run. Two weeks ago, the entire headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was taken out of Kupyansk, and on Monday the last “staff officer” left.

Before the retreat, the enemy, it seems, tried to delay the advance of our troops and began to undermine the bridges, creating defenses along the Oskol River. Information about the undermining of the bridge crossing appeared on Sunday evening. Already on Monday, this information was also documented – a video with the undermining of the crossing in several places began to circulate on the network. The nearest available crossing is now located 30 kilometers from Kupyansk, in the Borovoy area, the journey to which will take several hours.

Voenkor Yevgeny Poddubny saw positive signs for us in blowing up bridges.

“The enemy began blowing up bridges on the outskirts of Kupyansk, occupied by the Kyiv regime. This is a very serious sign of the successful actions of the Russian Army, which is more eloquent than any report, ”the military correspondent wrote.

However, the absence of bridges is not fatal – our troops are preparing pontoons to force the river, the Veteran’s Zapiski channel said: “The strategic heights in the suburbs of Kupyansk are ours. In the near future, expect good news from our neighbors – the 6th and 1st tank.”

According to the military expert, director of the Air Defense Museum Yuri Knutov, the tactical goal that we set has been achieved.

– There was a task for the enemy to withdraw troops from the Artemovsky direction and transfer them to Kupyanskoye. At first, the Ukrainian command did everything not to transfer regular units. Therefore, in the Kupan direction, the detachments of the defense, units of combat support were sent. They failed in their task. The enemy had no choice but to remove the real combat units and send them to the Kupyansk direction in order to try to stop our advance.

The military expert also spoke about the prospects for our offensive in the Kupyansk direction. He, like other experts, did not rule out the possibility of encircling enemy troops.

– There are certain advantages of the area. A large number of forests simplifies the advancement of our troops. The offensive is now underway, perhaps not at a very fast pace, as many would like, but it is moving steadily and confidently. We crossed the Zherebets River in a number of directions, and now we are preparing to cross in other places in order to secure the bridgeheads and further advance directly to Kupyansk.

Our troops are advancing to more advantageous lines and positions. Although the opportunity to take Kupyansk in pincers is not removed. And, of course, our troops will deal with this.

Yuri Knutov explained why the enemy deliberately “disperses” the information that he allegedly purposefully surrenders Kupyansk, in order to later pin down our large forces in this area, forcing us to defend the city from the flanks. Enemy stuffings also contain information about the transfer of additional equipment and weapons.

– The Kiev regime is now trying to pretend that the situation in the Kupyansk direction is stable, the Ukrainian units are coping, and the situation at the front is allegedly in their favor. To do this, the enemy cites such arguments as a small advance in the Orekhovskoye direction (mainly in the gray zone) and access to the first line of defense. They are also trying to present the situation in the Kupyansk direction as preparations for a possible counterattack…

In parallel, there are attacks on the territory of Russia. Recently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already been “given” as many as 42 fighters, although no one promised them in such a quantity … That is, a show is unfolding in front of us, in terms of which Zelensky and his team are great masters. I would not distrust the information from Kyiv, because their main task is to create a media “victory”, although there is no real victory.
