Skiers Polina Antipina and Victoria Nevyantseva were taken to the hospital after falling during a sprint at the qualifying stage of the Russian Championship, which takes place in the Arkhangelsk region. Nevyantseva reported “Match TV”that she suspects a fracture of the coccyx.
According to “Match TV”, representing the Arkhangelsk region, Antipina fell after she skidded at a turn at the end of the race. Ambulance doctors told the TV channel that they took the athlete to the hospital. They did not provide details of the injury.
Nevyantseva, representing the Tyumen region and Buryatia, told Match TV that she fell from the descent almost the same way as Antipina. “I injured my tailbone, now I am in the hospital and undergoing examination. So far they have said that there is a suspicion of a fracture of the coccyx. Tears are coming, the competition is ahead, and I’m in the hospital,” said the athlete.
