According to iDNEZ, two Russian tennis players circumvented the entry ban to the Czech Republic to take part in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Series tournament in Liberec. Kirill Kivattsev was able to win in the first round over Australian Matthew Dellavedov, while Denis Klok lost the opening match to Argentine Agustin Gomez.
Tournament director Tomasz Trska commented on the situation, noting that Klok was born in Crimea and was considered Ukrainian until 2014. He was issued a Russian passport after the annexation of Crimea to Russia. Kivattsev is from Volgograd.
It is worth noting that earlier, on July 28, Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was denied entry to the Czech Republic at Prague airport.
Recall that the Czech government agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Education to ban Russian athletes from competing in the country. In addition, the Czech authorities have banned Czech athletes from participating in tournaments that will be held in Russia.
