Two popular TV presenters in the United States at once – Tucker Carlson, who worked for the conservative Fox News resource, and Don Lemon, an employee of CNN close to the Democrats, were fired from their posts. Fox News announced Carlson’s departure on April 24, emphasizing that the decision was mutual. According to a Fox News statement, the prime-time evening program that Carlson was the face of will now be hosted by a temporary TV presenter. The future plans of the departed Carlson, famous for his harsh remarks about the Democrats and President Joe Biden, have not yet been reported.

Carlson’s dismissal, according to CNN Business, may be a consequence of the recent loss of a lawsuit that affected Fox News. We are talking about a conflict with the manufacturer of machines for counting votes Dominion Voting Systems, which Fox News accused of “twisting” votes in favor of Biden in the 2020 elections. Carlson’s direct connection with this case has not been proven – of the 20 cases of libel that Dominion accused Fox of News, only one came from the Carlson program. As a result, the channel agreed to pay the company $787.5 million for out-of-court lies. At the same time, according to Bloomberg, Carlson’s departure cost Fox News more than $ 690 million – shares of the parent company fell by 5.4% – the most significant figure since October last year.

The parting with CNN was different for Don Lemon, who hosted the morning broadcast of the American version of the channel. As Lemon himself wrote on Twitter, the agent informed him about the dismissal from CNN. “I am amazed. I thought that after 17 years of my work at CNN, one of the managers would have the decency to tell me about it personally, ”the TV presenter emphasized. His dismissal, according to NBC News, may be related to the recent scandal that unfolded because of Lemon’s unflattering comments towards Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley. Lemon said that 51-year-old Hayley is already “past her heyday.” In addition, according to the American weekly Variety, Lemon had a long trail of controversial statements towards women. According to Variety, the host Kira Phillips, who worked with him in tandem, suffered from Lemon especially hard.
