Twitter users (the social network is blocked in Russia) ridiculed the statement of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg about the withdrawal of the Russian army from Kherson, RIA Novosti reports.
The agency cites some comments from social network users on the words of Stoltenberg, published in the official NATO account. The secretary general said that “Russia’s withdrawal from Kherson demonstrates the unimaginable courage of the armed forces of Ukraine” and shows the “importance of the alliance’s constant support” for Kyiv.
“The paid mouthpiece of NATO Jens Stoltenberg is determined to prolong the bloodshed in Ukraine,” the user zaymer.ru wrote in response to this, RIA Novosti reports.
Another commentator joked that “America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan demonstrates the unimaginable bravery of the Taliban military” (the Taliban is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities).
Spudaiogeloion asked if NATO had already developed a “strategic plan for the return of Vietnam.”
And Fred334 called the North Atlantic Alliance “a waste of lives, money and time.”
Another user is sure that the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kherson is a “meaningful strategy” that “neither Ukraine nor NATO can understand,” the agency points out.
