Twitter is going to release a video application for smart TVs – Kommersant

Microblogging service Twitter is developing an application for smart TVs that will allow you to view video content from the platform. About it declared social network owner Elon Musk in response to a Twitter user who said he was not going to watch an hour-long video on a smartphone.

Elon Musk and Twitter CEO Linda Iaccarino previously held a presentation to investors, where they announced plans to expand video content, as well as agreements with commercial companies and content creators. Reuters informedthat on one of the slides the company revealed that vertical videos account for about 10% of the time users spend on the platform. Twitter is also going to invite to raise sponsorships and advertising on the channels of popular bloggers.

Previously Twitter introduced a new way to monetize content for owners of verified accounts – authors will be paid for posting ads in responses. For these purposes, the company has allocated $ 5 million – innovations are part of its new advertising policy.
