Tigran Mirzoyan, a twenty-year-old Novgorodian, received the title of world champion in universal combat, the Ministry of Sports of the region said.
According to the department, the competition was held for the first time in Volgograd. More than four hundred athletes from almost thirty countries gathered there.
“Tigran Mirzoyan from Novgorod became the world champion in the weight up to 85 kilograms. The athlete competed in the Classic category, where participants overcame an obstacle course and fought in mixed media.”the publication says.
The silver was won by the representative of Mongolia, and the bronze medals went to athletes from Russia and Tajikistan.
This World Championship was already the second in Mirzoyan’s career. Last year he took silver in Serbia.
