“Turned into a big snowdrift”: the grave of Porokhovshchikov’s wife was abandoned after the liquidation of an Ukrainian Armed Forces militant

“We received the inheritance and are happy”

Twelve years ago, the acting world was shocked by a terrible tragedy. First, Alexander Porokhovshchikov became seriously ill. His young wife Irina, realizing that her beloved husband was in extremely serious condition, decided to die. Alexander Shalvovich never found out that his wife was no more. He died without regaining consciousness exactly a month after the tragedy.

Irina and Alexander were buried in different places. Porokhovshchikov found his last refuge next to his mother in the rural cemetery in Rozhdestvenno-Suvorovo, and Irina – in the Vagankovsky churchyard.

Despite the fact that the cemetery is elite, it is currently extremely difficult to find the grave of Irina Porokhovshchikova. MK correspondents walked between the rows of graves for half an hour.

“Irochka is buried next to her parents,” a woman who came to the cemetery explained to us. “But now you won’t find her: her grave has turned into a large snowdrift.” When I saw it for the first time, I was stunned. The heirs received the inheritance – and are happy… We need to look for a monument to Irina’s parents. Her father is Colonel Zhukov, the nephew of that same Zhukov. There is a star on his monument. The woman said that during her lifetime she knew Irina Porokhovshchikova, so she periodically comes to her grave.

Indeed, Irina’s burial place is completely covered with snow, which is almost gone in the city, but there is enough in cemeteries – because of it, even the gravestone is not visible. And the monument to her father, the colonel, was half covered with old snow. Apparently, there was not much cleaning done here in winter.

After the actor’s death, Porokhovshchikov’s heirs received a multi-million dollar fortune. Two apartments in Moscow, a dacha and Porokhovshchikov’s car went to Shalva Barabadze. According to official documents, he was the youngest son of Porokhovshchikov’s father.

Shalva’s son, Vakhtang Barabadze, was in charge of registering the inheritance. After the substantial property passed into the hands of the family, Vakhtang agreed to undergo a DNA test, which showed the absence of family ties with the actor.

The inheritance did not bring happiness to Barabadze. It turned out that Vakhtang Barabadze, after the start of the Northern Military District, went to fight in Ukraine against Russia. Last summer it was liquidated by our military.

“I dig up the grass at Irochka’s grave in the summer,” our interlocutor continued. “I can’t clear the snow in winter.” In the summer, someone comes to her besides me. From time to time I see fresh flowers here. Although, of course, such care is not enough. When I see the state of her grave, my heart bleeds. She didn’t deserve this.
