Turkmenistan will provide assistance to flood victims in Primorye - Kommersant

More than 40 tons of cargo with humanitarian aid from Turkmenistan will arrive in Primorsky Krai in the coming days. About this today, August 24, reported press service of the government of the region.

“The national leader of the Turkmen people, the chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, decided to send a cargo of essential items through the national charitable foundation,” Alexei Starichkov, head of the Primorye International Cooperation Agency, was quoted in a press release. According to him, textile products, such as clothes, mattresses and blankets, will be delivered to the region by a special flight. Humanitarian aid will be distributed among the residents of the region affected by the flood.

Previously, more than 70 tons of food and equipment received from to Primorye from Belarus.

Recall that from August 10 to 12, Typhoon Hanun raged in Primorye. Heavy rains hit the region, causing floods. About 4.6 thousand residential buildings were flooded. In Ussuriysk, a dam broke through, which was built to contain floods, the TFR opened a criminal case on the fact of a dam break. As a result of flooding in the region died six persons.

August 23 in the region again passed heavy rains, from traffic due to flooding was cut off more than 10 settlements.

Since August 15, a regional emergency regime has been in force in Primorye.
