Launch of Turkish IMECE satellite from US Air Force base in California will take place on April 12
The launch of Turkey’s first Earth observation satellite has been postponed. About this in the social network Twitter (blocked on the territory of the Russian Federation) informed the contracting company for sending the apparatus into SpaceX orbit.
The new launch date for the Turkish satellite has been set for April 12. It is reported that a constellation of satellites, including Turkish IMECE, will be sent into space on a Falcon 9 rocket, which will launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
It is expected that the device will be launched into a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 680 kilometers. It will be able to take pictures of the earth’s surface with a resolution of less than one meter. The IMECE apparatus was created by Tubitak-Uzay Space Technology Research Institute.
As before informed “MK”, the head of the republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced plans to launch the first Turkish satellite into space to observe the Earth’s surface. “Our first nationally produced IMECE observation satellite with high-resolution imagery capability will be launched into its orbit into space,” he stressed on his Twitter page. It was reported that if the launch of the new technical tool is successful, then the total number of Turkey’s near-Earth vehicles in orbit will increase to 10 pieces. With human resources, capabilities and technology, Turkey will continue to advance in the global space race, Erdogan said.
