Only three candidates remain in Turkey’s presidential election
Turkish presidential candidate Muharrem Ince, who heads the Fatherland Party, announced his withdrawal from the election race.
“I want every house to vote for the Fatherland Party. I’m withdrawing my candidacy from the presidential elections,” he said on Thursday, May 11.
Ince explained his decision by “inadequate and excessive pressure” on him in the form of provocations, misinformation and accusations.
Presidential elections in Turkey are to be held on May 14. They are attended by the current head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan. His main rival is opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
Western media considerthat none of them will be able to win in the first round.
