Turkish opposition expects Kılıçdaroğlu to win in first round of elections

The Turkish opposition expects that their single candidate from the “People’s Alliance” Kemal Kılıçdaroglu can win in the first round of the presidential elections. On May 14, Turkey will host presidential and parliamentary elections. The second round of presidential elections, if needed, will be held on May 28.
The opponent of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is the single candidate of the opposition People’s Alliance, the leader of the Republican People’s Party, Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
If the HDP does not nominate its candidate, the elections may end in one round, the agency’s source said. The rest of the candidates opposed to the incumbent president, according to him, should not be taken into account.
The results of pre-election polls do not reveal a clear favorite for the upcoming elections. Analysts agree that the 2023 electoral process will be the most difficult for Turkey’s ruling party due to devastating earthquakes and a difficult economic situation.
