Turkish health camp nightmares: children wandered the streets for two days

Sofya from St. Petersburg is one of the most active mothers of a parent group specially created to rescue children from the Turkish shores. She already met her daughter on Sunday, so she “exhaled”, but it is impossible not to share the horror of what she experienced. According to my mother, the first “bells” that not everything was fine in the camp began the very next day:

– On July 26, my daughter flew to Kemer, wrote that they were at the hotel, everything was fine.

The daughter, on the advice of the head, gave pocket money to the counselor in an envelope. Before going to bed, I went to the social network, I look – my daughter is online, although it was already one in the morning. I write, why are you not sleeping? And she replies: yes, here the boy got drunk, broke the TV and shower and went to the toilet in the corridor. I’m shocked: where are the counselors looking?! At this, the daughter hushed up the conversation.

The next day, the daughter complained to her mother, “that she can’t even buy ice cream, the money that the children gave to the counselor for safekeeping is not given to them.”

– I am writing to this counselor, – the mother continues the story, – give the child money. But no answer, no hello, and by the way, she doesn’t pick up the phone at all if her parents call. And he doesn’t respond to messages either. For three days, her daughter went after her, in the end they gave her the money. But my daughter is fighting, brave, and other children were too shy to ask …

And before the counselor’s departure, according to the St. Petersburg mother, the children were promised a Morgenstern concert (included in the list of individuals – “foreign agents” in the Russian Federation), which is 18+:

– I was surprised, I ask, will they let you through? And the daughter says: yes, the counselors found out everything, the concert costs $ 50, they will buy tickets with our pocket money. It was in the evening. In the morning I ask, how is the concert? And the child replies that they were not allowed in and the money was not returned. But the worst thing was on the night of August 1: the daughter calls at one in the morning, crying – we are being evicted. The Turks came right to the room and ordered to get out, as the rooms were not paid. I am in shock, I call the counselors, none of them answers. I am writing to the eldest of them, his name is Vugar. He called me back – the very courtesy, do not worry, everything is fine, now they will be transferred to a good hotel. When asked why the children, and there were about 100 of them, were evicted in the middle of the night, he did not answer anything intelligible. And they were taken on a bus from one in the morning, then they sat at the reception, and settled them in another hotel only at 21 o’clock the next day!

All this time I called Vugar, and he calmly, as if nothing had happened, assured me that everything was fine, be patient. There are just a lot of children, we are waiting for everyone to be registered in a new hotel. As a result, they settled the children in a viper with cockroaches, without hot water, with terrible food. A day later, the daughter writes that she can no longer “rest”, she wants to go home. I ask what happened? And she: a girl – a neighbor in the room got drunk, she was pumped out, the police arrived. Me: where are the guards?! And they also thump, and other children thump children. It seemed to me that mine was also in some inadequate state, mate on mate, the tongue was tangled – horror!

Judging by the responses of the parents of teenagers, from the ill-fated “camp walker”, as dads and mothers gloomily joke, that evening the voices of their children seemed “inadequate” to several parents at once. And it was at that moment that they decided it would be better to spend money on a ticket than to keep children in this “suspicious encampment”.

– My daughter was supposed to stay in Kemer until August 9, but the next morning I again got through to the senior counselor with an urgent request to buy my daughter a ticket for the next possible date. He promised, then promised again – and all this remained promises.

According to the parents, only their own group on social networks helped itself: there, moms and dads supported each other as best they could. As a result, most of the children bought return tickets at their own expense and paid for the transfer to the airport themselves.

– Our child, however, was sitting at the airport alone for 13 hours, hungry, – one of the mothers laments. – But at home!

One of the mothers herself flew to Kemer and reported from there to the parent chat. On the Turkish side, there were also those who are sure that the parents themselves are to blame: they transferred money to some individual entrepreneur without demanding either hotel vouchers or itinerary receipts. As a result, the comrades in the nightmares of the Kemeri DOL decided to act through the court. So that such a nightmarish rest will never happen again.

– We walked all night in the park, – says Katya, who safely returned home from Kemer DOL, – then we sat in the shopping center. They bought food for themselves, who had the money. Those who did not have, those counselors fed. One was nothing, good.

“We tried to support the children, talked, explained the situation to them at detachment events,” says one of the leaders of the unfortunate camp. – And why they were evicted, we, counselors, have no idea. We were also sent home.

Meanwhile, the vibrant DOL website with a lot of positive reviews continues to invite children to “a full-fledged vacation at sea in a positive company of peers and an active democratic development environment.” A child from 7 to 14 can still be sent to Kemer, the next arrival is on August 9, the price is 83500 for 2 weeks.

– We have a camp of a completely new format, there are no boring rules and a hard regime, and groovy animation, sparkling flash mobs and quests led by energetic counselors will make your children’s vacation unforgettable! – assures the aunt on the phone.

Well, it’s hard to argue with this specifically: the Kemerovo DOL quest “wandering camp” was quite a success.
