Turkish Foreign Ministry Summons Dutch Ambassador After Quran Desecration in The Hague

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs called after the Netherlands in Ankara after the anti-Islamic action with the desecration of the Koran in The Hague, according to message foreign policy department.

Earlier on January 21, the leader of the anti-Islamic Hard Deal party, Rasmus Paludan, burned the Koran in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm. After that, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged Sweden can no longer wait for the support of the application to join NATO.

“Do you continue to support terrorists and are you waiting for support to join NATO? It won’t work like that,” he said.

The only countries that have not yet approved the membership of Finland and Sweden in the alliance are Hungary and Turkey. According to the agreements signed in June, Stockholm and Helsinki promised Ankara to investigate and stop any funding and recruitment activities of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), recognized as terrorist in Turkey. In addition, Sweden and Finland pledged to consider Turkey’s requests for the extradition of suspected terrorists, while Stockholm separately announced the tightening of anti-terrorism legislation in the country.
