Turkey urged to play matches without spectators after anti-government cries from the stands

The leader of the Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, called for football matches to be held without spectators. Earlier, at a number of matches, there were calls from the fans for the resignation of the government. In particular, similar chants were heard the day before during the meeting between Fenerbahce and Konyaspor.
Bahceli called it “irresponsible” and “insensitive” to shout slogans while Turkey is dealing with the aftermath of devastating earthquakes.
“If similar calls are made at the Galatasaray-Alanyaspor and Besiktas-Alanyaspor matches, it will become obvious: our football clubs have fallen into a trap,” Erdogan’s ally wrote on Twitter.
The MHP, according to the leader, condemns the politicization of sports and considers such actions as a manifestation of disrespect for those who died in the earthquakes.
In his opinion, it is necessary that the leaders of all clubs take urgent necessary steps: matches must be played either without spectators or with precautionary measures. Bahceli warned that the party would keep a close eye on the topic.
