Turkey resumes air strikes on Iraqi Kurdistan

The Turkish Air Force resumed air strikes on the territory of Iraqi Kurdistan, located in northern Iraq, transmits news agency Shafak News.
It is noted that Turkish aircraft hit the places of deployment of PKK supporters north of the city of Dahuk. Information about the dead and injured as a result of the attack is not given.
The day before, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara carried out an air operation in Syria and Iraq because of the refusal of the Russian side to fulfill promises to withdraw Kurdish formations from the border of the republic. The Turkish leader referred to the Sochi agreement, concluded in 2019 between Moscow and Ankara, on joint actions to resolve the situation in the northeast of the Arab Republic.
Commenting on the criticism of the Turkish leader, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov notedthat Moscow and Ankara have “certain nuances” regarding the situation in Syria, which, among other things, relate to the one whose obligations were not fulfilled under the memorandum agreed in Sochi.
Turkey has already conducted three military operations in the northern regions of Syria since 2017 – the Euphrates Shield, the Olive Branch and the Spring of Peace. The new operation, launched on November 20, was named “Claw-sword”.
