The Turkish drilling ship Fatih discovered natural gas reserves in the Black Sea with a volume of 58 billion cubic meters. m. at a depth of just over 3000 m, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, transmits Anadolu.
“The natural gas that we discovered in the Black Sea today is valued at $1 trillion on the international market. Our new discovery will open the door to discovering other geological deposits adjacent to the region. We will start new drilling as soon as possible,” he said.
In 2020, Turkey discovered a large gas field in the Black Sea, the volume of which was later estimated at 540 billion cubic meters. m. Erdogan then called the open field the largest in the country, the development of a new field will ensure the energy security of the country and create new jobs, he said. Later, Ankara announced that the reserves of this field are capable of covering the world’s gas needs for 45 years.
Today, Erdogan said that the volume of this field is 652 billion cubic meters. m. The total gas reserves discovered by Turkey in the Black Sea reached a total of about 710 billion cubic meters. m., he added.
Earlier in December, Erdogan announced the discovery of an oil field with reserves of about 150 million barrels of oil worth $12 billion in the southeast of Turkey near Mount Gabar.
