The business climate indicator (BCI) in Russia increased in December by 1.4 points to 2.4, follows from data monitoring of enterprises of the Central Bank. The regulator attributes the growth of CIB to a marked improvement in assessments of the current business environment.
The Bank of Russia noted that the growth of the CIB is observed for the second month in a row – in November, the indicator increased by 2.1 points. The positive character also kept the expectations of enterprises for the next three months, the Central Bank said.
According to the December monitoring data, an improvement in estimates of production volumes is observed in most industries. The most noticeable positive changes were observed in water supply, as well as in manufacturing industries. At the same time, short-term expectations in the manufacturing sector turned out to be less positive than in November.
The contraction in demand is slowing down in all major industries, the Central Bank noted. The most negative estimates of demand remained in construction and retail trade. Analysts of the Bank of Russia recorded a deterioration in short-term demand estimates in the service sector, retail trade, as well as in transportation and storage.
In December, the growth of price expectations slowed down compared to the previous month. At the same time, the growth of this estimate continues for the fourth month in a row.
