Turkey condemns Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The agency called for an immediate cessation of incidents so that they do not become the beginning of an even greater aggravation of the situation.
Earlier, the Israeli military carried out Operation Dawn against Islamic Jihad militants in the Gaza Strip.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry called for “restraint and common sense” and declared the unacceptability of the death of civilians, including children. The agency expressed deep concern about the growing tension in the region.
Earlier, the central and southern regions of Israel, including the cities of Ashkelon and Ashdod, were fired from the Gaza Strip. Reportedly, 71 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel in 2 hours. It was reported that the Iron Dome missile defense system reflects a massive missile attack, powerful explosions were heard in the sky over Tel Aviv.
Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said that the country is not interested in prolonged hostilities in the Gaza Strip, but is not afraid of them. Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said the IDF would act “until it achieves its objectives.”
