Turkey announces start of trade with Russia in rubles

Turkey and Russia began to trade with each other in national currencies, while the United States cannot interfere in this process. This was stated by the head of the department of economic policy of the Turkish party “Motherland” Hakan Topkurulu.
In an interview with the Aydınlılk newspaper, he did not disclose exactly how money transfers are made, since, according to him, the organizers of this system strongly advised him not to do this. At the same time, he clarified that the operations are carried out in rubles.
Topkurulu added that Washington is unable to harm the new settlement system, while at the same time, the US, he believes, is “cutting off the branch” on which it sits.
The party spokesman added that now the dollar, which is considered the world’s reserve currency, is absent from trade between Turkey and Russia.
In early August, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that Turkey would begin paying for Russian gas supplies in rubles. The country annually imports 26 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia.
